Mechanistic studies on the copper-catalyzed N-arylation of amides.

The copper-catalyzed N-arylation of amides, i.e., the Goldberg reaction, is an efficient method for the construction of products relevant to both industry and academic settings. Herein, we present mechanistic details concerning the catalytic and stoichiometric N-arylation of amides. In the context of the catalytic reaction, our findings reveal the importance of chelating diamine ligands in cont...

Copper-catalyzed sequential N-arylation of C-amino-NH-azoles.

Copper(II)-catalyzed boronic acid promoted C-N bond cross-coupling reactions have been successfully developed for sequential N-arylation of C-amino-NH-azoles. These general protocols are compatible with a variety of aryl/hetero-aryl boronic acids and provided rapid access to a diverse array of diarylaminoazole derivatives in a two-step sequence or in one-pot.

Copper-catalyzed arylation of 1H-perfluoroalkanes.

A general method has been developed for arylation of readily available 1H-perfluoroalkanes. The method employs aryl iodide and 1H-perfluoroalkane reagents, DMPU solvent, TMP(2)Zn base, and a copper chloride/phenanthroline catalyst. Preliminary mechanistic studies are reported.

Copper-catalyzed N-arylation of amides using (S)-N-methylpyrrolidine-2-carboxylate as the ligand.

(S)-N-methylpyrrolidine-2-carboxylate, a derivative of natural L-proline, was found to be an efficient ligand for the copper-catalyzed Goldberg-type N-arylation of amides with aryl halides under mild conditions. A variety of N-arylamides were synthesized in good to high yields.

Chromium(II)-catalyzed enantioselective arylation of ketones

The chromium-catalyzed enantioselective addition of carbo halides to carbonyl compounds is an important transformation in organic synthesis. However, the corresponding catalytic enantioselective arylation of ketones has not been reported to date. Herein, we report the first Cr-catalyzed enantioselective addition of aryl halides to both arylaliphatic and aliphatic ketones with high enantioselect...
